I never heard of Rick Steves. Yes, I am probably the only person on the planet that has never heard of him until I signed up for a trip (different company) and started researching Italy. For my 50th birthday my friends and family gave me a gift of a lifetime - a trip. When the first company cancelled, I was devastated but I researched other companies and the Rick Steves' My Way: Italy 13 Days Tour was what I was looking for and fell within my budget. I wanted a trip that I could be independent but still have the security of a group and escort, choose what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go on my own. I wanted to challenge myself...I wanted an adventure...I wanted to believe in myself again... I wanted my soul to change... As an artist I wanted to explore the art... the culture... take lovely photos... and just breath in the essence of Italy. I had no idea that 15 days would change me forever. I rediscovered my "self", my independence and my soul.... everyone that was on the Rick Steves Italy trip helped me find what I was looking for even though I came alone.
